What is the functionality of AWS Snowball and how does it operate? AWS Snowball is a device that falls under the AWS Snow Family and offers edge computing, data migration, and edge storage capabilities. It comes in two options. Snowball Edge Storage Optimized devices provide both block storage and Amazon S3-compatible object storage, as well as 40 vCPUs. With Snowball Edge devices, you can run EC2 AMIs and deploy AWS Lambda code for local processing or analysis, including tasks involving machine learning or other applications. Snowball is capable of transporting multiple terabytes of data, and if needed, multiple devices can be used simultaneously or clustered together to transfer petabytes of data to or from AWS.
