AWS Single Sign-On

/5

What is the functionality of AWS Single Sign-On (SSO) and how does it operate? SSO allows for centralized management of access to various AWS accounts and business applications. It enables users to access all their assigned accounts and applications from a single location using single sign-on. AWS SSO simplifies access and user permissions management for all AWS Organizations accounts. It automatically configures and maintains the necessary permissions for the accounts, without requiring additional configuration in each individual account. User permissions can be assigned based on job functions and can be customized to meet specific security requirements. AWS SSO integrates with popular commercial applications like Salesforce, Box, and Microsoft 365. User IDs can be created and managed within AWS SSO’s identity store, or connected to existing identity sources such as Microsoft Active Directory, Okta Universal Directory, or Azure Active Directory using AWS SSO (Azure AD). AWS SSO allows you to select user attributes from the identity source, such as cost center, title, or locale, and use them for AWS attribute-based access control. It works seamlessly with AWS Organizations, enabling users to access one or more accounts within the organization. AWS SSO leverages AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and policies to facilitate access management across all AWS accounts. Individual accounts do not require additional configuration. With just a few clicks, you can grant access to all AWS accounts used by an application or a team.
